Small Miracles

Hi everybody! I hope your week was superb!
I had a really awesome week! Elder Hewitt and I saw miracles! I got to go on exchanges with a Spanish elder named Elder Mugleson on Wednesday and that was cool! On the exchange we got to teach a woman in my area named Judy. She is amazing! I can see how she has been prepared by the Lord to receive the restored gospel. She takes notes during the lesson and not only has she read from the Book of Mormon but she has been rereading the first few chapters of 1 Nephi to make sure that she understands what it’s saying. We had an amazing lesson with her and she said that she can feel the spirit whenever we talk to her. I can’t wait to see her testimony grow.
On Saturday, Elder Hewitt and I got to teach an investigator named Dan. He is still on track for baptism and he is getting very excited about it. We may have found him a ride to church this week! The first counselor in our bishopric has access to a wheelchair van and he said that in the future he will probably be able to give Dan rides to church! We are really hoping that it works out!
My studies this week have been going well! I’ve been able to study about when Abinadi comes to King Noah and his people to call them to repentance. One thing that I have loved learning on my mission is how to better apply the scriptures to my life. I haven’t had to go through anything even close to what Abinadi had to endure but I have had hard
times. It has taught me to look for even the smallest of blessings. If you are looking for a way to find more happiness I would encourage you to look for one miracle each day. For me it can be as big as setting a baptismal date or as small as not getting yelled at. Looking for these small miracles has helped me find joy everyday on my mission.
I love you and I hope you have a great day!

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great week!
Last week went really well for me! I’m getting along great with Elder Hewitt! We have a lot in common so we should have a good transfer together.
Friday was my official 6 month mark on my mission so some of the other missionaries that came out with me and I got to go to someone’s house and burn our ties. One of the sisters we came out with wanted to burn something too so she burned a scarf. It looked like it was going to be a pretty good day for burning but right before we went outside it
started dumping rain and I didn’t have my jacket. So it took us forever to get the ties started and I got soaked! We eventually got the ties burned down but we all got drenched. It was really fun!
We set a baptismal date with one of our new investigators! His name is Dan and we haven’t been teaching him for very long but he wants to get baptized in March! It has been a huge blessing to find someone who has been prepared to hear the restored gospel.  The other two people we are teaching had to push their dates back for various reasons. They should happen next month though.
On Sunday we saw a broadcast that was sent out to everyone on the west coast. It was amazing! They had Elder Grow, Sister Oscarson, another seventy, and Elder Renlund speak. My favorite talk was by Elder Renlund. He talked about three life experiences that he and his wife had where they were asked gospel questions and they related it back to
Joseph Smith. I hope that I can use that in my everyday missionary work. If we can help others gain a testimony of Joseph Smith then it makes possible for them to gain a testimony of other things.
I know that Joseph Smith really was a prophet and he restored the gospel of Jesus Christ back to the earth. I know that he translated the Book of Mormon and that if we read it and pray with sincerity we can know that it’s true.
I love you all and hope you have a great week!

6 Months (Bump Day)

Hi everybody! Hope you had a great week!  Last week was great! We got to do a lot of great things!
Earlier in the week Elder Garfield and I had some appointments cancel last minute so we went to the church to do some area book stuff. When we got there we saw that their was a blood drive going on. We decided that giving blood is a pretty good service so we did! Everything went well at first but when they went to put the needle in my vain kept moving so they had to poke me four times! That wasn’t very fun but it was good and we got a ton of free snacks!
So our car had some dents in it (I swear they were their before me) so we had to drive clear to the other side of the mission to get it fixed. We had to go a day with out it and it was then that I realized how nice a car is for big areas. It’s such a blessing! We tried to walk but it wasn’t really effective. It was so great to get it back and get back to work.
On Sunday we saw a lot of miracles. We went back to see the old man that we gave a Book of Mormon to last week and he said that he couldn’t read it because the print was too small. He doesn’t live far from us so we walked back to our apartment and got one in large print. When we came back we ran into an employee who asked for a large print bible for her mom. When we went to get that we were walking past the hospital then a man stopped us and asked us if we could give his mother a blessing. She was in a  wheelchair and could barely move. We gave her a blessing their on the sidewalk and when it was over she had a huge grin on her face! I’m so glad that I have been able to stay worthy of the priesthood so that I can be a part of things like that.
Today is transfers and Elder Garfield is leaving. I’m gonna miss him but he is an awesome missionary and he will do great things during the rest of his mission! He will still be in this zone so I’ll see him. My new companion is Elder Hewitt. He came out with
Elder Garfield so I’m still senior comp! Hahaha! I can’t believe that it has already been 6 months! I hope the rest of my mission can be this great!
I love you all and I hope that you have a great day! Love ya!

Jacob 5

Hi everybody! I hope that you had an amazing week!  I don’t have a ton to talk about this time around. Things are going really well with the area! We still have two people with baptismal dates. We had to push them back a little but they should be happening in the beginning of March.  We found some new awesome people last week! One of them is named William. He has had a rough life but he wants to start having a relationship with Jesus Christ. Our bishop found him at this halfway house thing so we are going to start teaching him and his friends who are there with him. I hope it works out!
We also met a guy named Dan McGuire. We were visiting someone at an
old folks home when Dan rolled up in his jazzy and started talking to us. He asked us some good questions about the gospel and said that he would have to get a Book of Mormon soon. When we told him that we could give him one right then he got this huge grin on his face. We told him about the Book of Mormon and how Joseph Smith translated it and he was almost in tears by the end. He said that he would read some of it so we are going to visit him this week.
I also got to see the Guilott family last week! It was so much fun to say hi and they gave me a package from my family! Thanks family! When they first got out of their car and started screaming and yelling get the camera Elder Garfield thought they were going to start bashing us and film it! It  was really funny!
In my studies I have started reading a chapter from the Book of Mormon each morning. The other day I got to Jacob 5 and I wasn’t very excited. I told myself that I was just going to read it as fast as I could to get through it. I said a prayer that I would be able to get something out of it. It ended up being one of the best personal studies I’ve had! I was able to apply what I read. The end of the chapter is great to apply to missionary work!I love you all so much  and I hope you have a great day!
