Got Nailed!

rusty-nail-tetanus-1-622x415

Hi everybody! I hope you all had a fantastic week!
Elder Hewitt and I did a lot this last week! We started teaching two new people last week! They are sisters and we are helping both of them with some word of wisdom issues. They seem like they will be really great! They have a real desire to change.  A family in our ward invited their friends to church on Sunday and their whole family came! It was awesome! Five of the seven family members are over eight and we will hopefully start teaching them this week!
On Saturday we had an expert on Joseph Smith come and talk to all of the missionaries. A lot of us didn’t really like it because he kept comparing Joseph Smith to the Savior and  we all felt like you can’t really compare the two of them. It was a little uncomfortable. My favorite part of the meeting was at the end when President Ballard got up and bore his testimony of the restoration. It was a great testimony and I’m grateful to have such an amazing mission president.
After the meeting we went to do some service for a member of our ward. We had sledgehammers and we were busting up a bunch of concrete.  At one point I went to swing the sledgehammer and I felt something go through my shoe and into my foot. I thought it was a rock at first but I looked down and realized it was a nail.  I hobbled over to the steps with the help of Elder Hewitt and the guy we were helping came over and just pulled it out!  It hurt like crazy! Luckily it didn’t really bleed. I’m glad I got my shots before my mission!! It’s been healingup pretty well!
So last week was pretty good! I’m so glad that I made the choice to serve a mission! I love you all so much and I hope you have a great week!

Zone Conference

Hi everyone! I hope your week was great!
Last week was pretty good! We had three people come to church on Sunday including a new investigator who is friends with one of our members! She’s nine years old and we found out from the members in our ward who know the family that the parents want to start coming to church! We will hopefully start teaching them at the member’s home!
We had Zone Conference last week and it was an amazing spiritual experience! We talked a lot about making sure that we are working hard and relying on the Lord as we do His work. As I’ve been out I’ve realized that we can not do the Lord’s work without Him. Something that I have been trying to work on is praying throughout the day. I’ve always been saying my prayers in the morning and evening but it helps me to have the spirit with me when I am continually talking to my Father in Heaven. Prayer helps me focus on what I’m doing at that moment. Like if we are out finding, I pray that I will be able to have the courage to talk to everyone or I ask to know what will help the person we are about to knock into. It also helps me remember the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for me and each of the people I see. I try to thank Heavenly Father for sending His Son each time I pray.  It has helped me remember the Atonement. Without that, God’s plan could not come to pass. I am so grateful for a Savior who loves me enough to die for me. I would encourage each of you to find someway this week to remember the Redeemer in everything you do. I promise that it will make you happier and you will remember that God loves you more than you know.
I love you all and I hope you have a great week!

Elder Ballard

Hi everybody! Hope your week was awesome!
Last week was amazing! We had a lesson with Brittany, an investigator that we found last week, and it went great! We found out that she is YSA age so we had the YSA elders come with us to do a hand-off lesson.  She asked some great questions and at the end of the lesson she committed to be baptized on May 7th! Even though we won’t be teaching her anymore it still feels great to have found someone who is ready for the gospel.
On Saturday we got to have three meetings with Elder Ballard!!! Our mission president is the son of Elder Ballard so we get to see him a lot. He gave an amazing talk on the restoration and how important it is to have the priesthood. I think that shows just how important the message of the restoration is. If an apostles chooses to share that message with members and nonmembers at a fireside it must pretty darn important. When he spoke to just the missionaries we all got the chance to shake his hand. It was such a spiritual experience to be able to hear from him in such a personal setting.
I know that this church is true and that it is lead by Jesus Christ through prophets and apostles. I know that if we listen to what they say we will be able to find more peace and comfort in this life and in the life to come. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that he appeared with the Father to Joseph Smith and called hm to restore their gospel. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God and it is here for us today.
I love you all and I hope you have a great day!

General Conference

Hi everybody! I hope you had a chance to watch General Conference over the weekend! My week was great! On Tuesday Elder Hewitt and I were in downtown Oregon City having lunch when we started talking to a lady who was walking down the street. She said that she had just moved to Oregon City and she was looking for a church to go to! We told her that we would love to teach her about the church and she gave us her address and said that we could come back the next day! So on Wednesday we got to teach her the restoration and she loved it! We gave her a Book of Mormon and we will see her again on Friday for a hand off lesson to the YSA elders! She seems really great and ready to be taught!
On Saturday we had the chance to watch one session of General Conference with an investigator named Adam. He really liked the talks and he said that he wants to start coming to church! He seems like he will be really solid!
General Conference was amazing!!! I’m so grateful for modern prophets and apostles.  They bring so much peace and additional knowledge to all of us. If you have not watched conference I would ask you to do so sometime this week. Listening to those inspired men will help you find answers to any of your questions. I highly recommend the talk that Elder Holland gave and the talk that President Monson gave. All of them are good though. I know that these men have been inspire to say what they said and if we listen to their words we will be blessed with peace.
I love you all!
