Alma 43

Hi everybody! I hope you had a great week!  Elder Palmer and I worked hard last week and we got a lot of good stuff done!  We taught two of the people that we found last week and the lessons went really well! We ended up having the sister missionaries teach one of the people with us and we decided that it would be better for the sisters to teach them.  The other investigator doesn’t seem extremely interested but he committed to read the Book of Mormon and said that we could come back. We will be going back to see him next week.
We found two new people on Sunday! We found them both in the same apartment complex! We were tracting and found one of them through that. He seems nice and at least will to let us come back. The other was sitting outside talking with some of her friends. We started talking to her and found out that she just moved here from Atlanta. We also found out that she was about to start meeting with the missionaries in Atlanta! We are really excited to start teaching her today!
On Friday we had a Mission Tour. Elder Nielsen of the Seventy came and talked to us about missionary work! (Surprise surprise) He talked a lot about the Savior and how we need to always teach of Him. Elder Nielsen also talked about how we don’t have to baptized a ton of
people to serve a successful mission. He told the story of his sons and how one of them baptized more people then he could count, one son baptized one person and one son didn’t baptize anyone but they all served successful missions in the Lord’s eyes. It was really great.
At the mission tour I was also able to see/hug all of my former companions!!! It was so nice to see all of the people that I have served around over the last 10 months and see how they are growing! I loved it!
So lately I have been studying Alma 43 and looking for parallels to our day. I thought that it was cool how one of the first things Moroni did when he found out that the Lamanites were on the move was go to the prophet Alma. If each of us would turn to the teachings on the prophets when we have a trial we could find peace a lot quicker than if we tried on our own. I also remember reading about how the Lamanites part way through the battle started to fight like dragons and beat the Nephites. When the Nephites were about to turn and run, Moroni inspired them by reminding them that they were fighting for their families, their freedom and their God. After that the Nephites come back and win the battle! I want to testify that Satan is a real being who is fighting as hard as he can to destroy us. If we want to stand a chance of winning we need to remember what matters most and fight with all of our strength for it. We should also remember that when we fall at times it is not the end. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is real and the Savior is looking to forgive and help each of us but we must turn to Him if He is to do so.
I love you all and I hope you have a great week!
