Hello Battle Creek 2nd ward! I hope you are doing well!
I’ve been asked to bare my testimony to you and after much thought and prayer I have decided to talk to you about a simple truth: that God is our loving Heavenly Father.
My first day in the mission field, President Ballard told all of the new elders and sister that Portland Oregon was voted the most godless city in America. I wondered how this could be? How could people turn away from someone who is always trying to help and reach out to them? After being out for only a month I understand that people feel that way because they don’t know who God really is.
I promise you brothers and sisters that Heavenly Father loves us more then we can imagine. Sometimes it may not seem like that; we may be going through terrible trials and wonder if God cares about us at all. The Lord does not give us these hard things because he hates us, he is trying to help us grow. He is with us every step of the way if we choose to let him help us.
I know that Heavenly Father lives. I know that he loves each one of us and has given us this life so that we can become like him someday. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that we can draw closer to Christ by reading it and living its teachings. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet today. I know that Jesus Christ suffered and died so that each of us can become clean and live with our Father in Heaven again.
I love you all so much!
Love,
Elder Wilcock
